Duo History
The two individuals met in Oak Park located at the northern suburbs of Detroit, Michigan back in 1985. Before the group officially formed, the pair both got into wrestling and was considered one of their biggest hobbies which played a huge role with their history.
Bruce, Utsler, and a few other friends grouped together to form JJ Boys. JJ Boys released a single entitled “Party at the Top of the Hill”, but the momentum stopped due to the tough poverty life that Bruce experienced.
As a result, Bruce moved in with Rudy Hill, once of his friends and then formed the Inner City Posse gang. This gang composed of Bruce, Rudy, and his other friends from Southwest Detroit including Utsler. After a 90 day arrest for mischievous activities, Bruce backed out of the gang life and started to pursue a wrestling career alongside Utsler.

Things started to get sour with the wrestling business over time which prompted them both to abandon their careers and get into hip hop music. Together with Utsler and his brother John, the three of them performed at night clubs using stage names for the very first time under the name Inner City Posse which was the name of their former gang. This movement led to them getting a manager and releasing an EP called “Dog beats”. The popularity of their music took a dark turn and generated a negative impression from the local music scene. It was an icon of violence until they finally quit the gang life for good.
The group had to change their gangsta rap style to something else for the sake of their image. Bruce looked to local rapper Esham’s rap style which was acid like and decided to adapt to that. Bruce also recalled a strange dream involving a clown which was then used for their new and current name – Insane Clown Posse. This was where their road to fame began with several successful releases made from 1995 to 2000. They also got into the filming industry starring in the comedy film – Big Money Hustlas.

Success
“The Great Milenko” (1997) and “The Amazing Jeckel Brothers” (1999) were the only two albums. That got the RIAA Platinum Certification. Many of the other albums gained recognition in the Billboard peak. But none of the singles made it to the U.S. Hot 100 except “Santa’s A Fat Bitch” which made it to #67.
Present Time
While there hasn’t been much activity in the music side for the past 2 years, the duo has been busy with the next comedy film which is a prequel to Big Money Rustlas – Big Money Hustlas. Their website is still up indicating that the Insane Clown Posse have future plans for the music industry.
